In addition, we understand that the nature, complexity, and length of many dental procedures can be quite unpleasant causing patients to avoid getting the treatment they need.

In an effort to eliminate these barriers to treatment Premier Dental offers IV Sedation services which can be provided in conjunction with most dental services we provide. It is our passion to make your experience with us as relaxing and comfortable as possible.

What is IV sedation?

IV sedation is the deepest form of conscious sedation available in a dental office setting. Before your procedure begins your healthcare provider will administer a combination of sedative and analgesic medications directly to your bloodstream through an IV line. The effects of these medications will begin to work in less than 30 seconds at which time you will begin to experience a feeling of euphoria and relaxation while you drift into a twilight sleep. You will breathe on your own and be able to respond to verbal commands but will feel asleep. It is unlikely that you will remember anything about your visit.

Is IV sedation right for me?

Consultation: A consultation is required for all patients who wish to schedule a procedure with IV Sedation. During your consultation a detailed medical history will be obtained in addition to a list of current medications and any information related to previous anesthesia experiences. Your Doctor will evaluate your medical conditions along with the medications you take to determine if you are a good candidate for IV sedation in the dental office. In some cases, patients with complex and/or multiple medical conditions will need to obtain medical clearance from their primary care provider before this determination can be made. These steps must be taken to ensure that your sedation is completed both successfully and safely.
