But if your teeth are damaged by disease or trauma, you may need some help restoring your smile to its best look possible. That is where dental restoration comes in.

Our dentists at Premier Dental can give you back the smile you have been missing.

Dental Fillings that Match the Color of Your Teeth

Many adults do not have missing teeth, but they do have teeth that need to be fixed for a variety of reasons. You may need to have a tooth repaired because you have a cavity.

You no longer want to have your cavities filled with silver fillings because you want your dental fillings to have the same color as your natural teeth.

Our dentists can create tooth-colored fillings to fix your cavities without ruining your natural tooth color. No one will know you had a cavity except you.

Dental Bonding to Correct Small Flaws

Also, dentists use dental bonding to correct flaws in your teeth. You may have cracked or chipped a tooth by biting down on something or due to bruxism - clenching or grinding your teeth at night. Dental bonding can also fix any large gaps between your teeth so that they look properly spaced.

For example, many people have a gap between their front teeth. This gap can be fixed with braces or surgery, but many adults opt to have dental bonding instead. Bonding can last for years, and our dentists can always replace any bonding you have lost. Dentists can even use bonding to fix the color of one of your teeth!

Veneers for Instant Improvement

What if you have a series of damaged, crooked, or discolored teeth? Instead of having multiple procedures, you can opt for veneers.

Dental veneers are a thin resin or porcelain exterior that fits over your natural teeth, which fixes your tooth issues instantly. Instead of having teeth that look damaged and discolored, you will have veneers that can cause anyone to smile.

Crowns to Save a Damaged Tooth

Sometimes, a tooth is too damaged for minor repairs, and you need something that looks good but also protects it from further damage. That is where dental crowns are such a valuable tool.

Dentists use crowns to cover and protect a damaged tooth. You may have tooth damage from a cavity or from mouth trauma, and dental crowns can save your tooth.

Inlays and Onlays for Surfaces

What if your damaged tooth is one of your molars? If you have a large cavity in one of your molars, you may need a dental crown. However, can a crown work if your cavity is on the biting surface of the molar? Instead of opting for a crown, our dentist may be able to restore your molar using dental inlays or dental onlays.

Both inlays and onlays are dental prosthetics; dentists can create porcelain prosthetics and cement them into place after your cavity has been repaired.

Dental inlays replace tooth enamel that is not on your molar cusp, while dental onlays replace tooth enamel on your molar cusp that has been damaged.

Replacing Missing Teeth

For adults who are missing teeth, dental prosthetics have lots of options so that you can get the teeth you are missing replaced and your smile restored. It is important that if you lose a tooth, you get it replaced - not just because you want a complete smile but also because changes take place in your mouth when you lose a tooth and you do not replace it.

One of the most important changes that occurs in your mouth if a tooth is missing is that your remaining teeth may shift around to try and cover the area where your missing tooth is. This shifting can lead to teeth that are poorly spaced and teeth that may no longer be straight. You may notice that you have jaw pain as well because your bite may no longer align.

Luckily, all of your missing tooth issues can be fixed through dental prosthetics. Depending on how many teeth you have lost, you have options available.

Dental Implants for One or More Missing Teeth

If you are only missing one tooth, you should think about dental implants. Dental implants are a great way to keep your jaw healthy and restore your smile. With dental implants, you get a prosthetic tooth that resembles your missing tooth as closely as possible.

Dental implants anchor to your jawbone with a dental screw, usually made of titanium. Our dentists will use an incision along your gum tissue to drill a hole into your jawbone and implant a screw. Once your jawbone heals, you will be ready for a connector piece that attaches the implant screw and your new prosthetic tooth.

You will be able to clean and floss your new tooth in much the same way as your natural tooth, and your body will treat the implanted tooth as a permanent solution, which means your teeth will not shift, and you will have no problems with your jawbone.

If you have more than one missing tooth, you can also benefit from dental implants. You can opt to replace all of your missing teeth with a series of single-tooth implants, or if you have missing teeth that are close together, you can also opt for multiple-tooth implants.

Multiple-tooth implant procedures are performed in much the same way as single-tooth procedures, except you will need to have more than one dental screw implanted; usually, you need between two and four dental implant screws for a multiple-tooth implant.

Dental Bridges for Stability

Dental bridges are another option. They are prosthetic teeth on a plastic or acrylic base. Bridges can be removable or permanent. Usually, they are cemented between two natural teeth or two implanted teeth to give them stability. Dentists can use different dental bridges depending on your needs and where your missing teeth are located.
